Dear staff and students,

In order to keep our staff, students and community safe, it is important that we all follow the latest health advice and the COVID-19 SOPs and protocols we have put in place. This is a gentle reminder to:

  • Get vaccinated and get your booster shot as soon as you can.
  • Check-in to the campus and individual buildings using the MySejahtera app.
  • Get your temperature checked at the gate.
  • Wear a mask in all indoor and outdoor settings (preferably double-mask).
  • Wash or sanitise your hands regularly.
  • Practice physical distancing.
  • Observe room occupancy rules.
  • Don’t sit in groups when dining in the cafeteria.
  • Don’t come to campus if you are unwell, if you have been to an exposure site and are awaiting your results, if you are a close contact of a positive case or if you are experiencing flu-like symptoms.

Best regards,

Ir. Pieter W Pottas (P.Eng. PEur)

Dear students

A very Happy New Year to all.

Following my email on Returning to Campus on 17 December 2021, I would like to reiterate that the University has started on-campus delivery and all eligible (and fully-vaccinated) students are expected to return to campus for face-to-face learning as attendance is compulsory.

The only exception are international students who have yet to receive permission to travel to Sarawak. They are requested to email returning2campus@curtin.edu.my immediately to make arrangements to continue studying online in the interim, and the expectation is that they will also return to campus as soon as they are allowed to travel.

The University has adopted and will continuously improve its SOPs and protocols to ensure that our campus remains a safe environment for our students and staff.  All SOPs and protocols must be followed at all times. I am also pleased to inform you that all our staff are fully vaccinated with two doses, and all are expected to have their booster shots by the end of February.

Furthermore, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee has updated and simplified its procedures for entry into Sarawak, where Malaysians and non-Malaysians who have been resident in Malaysia for the past 14 days or more are no longer required to apply through the EnterSarawak app.  However, other conditions still apply as below.

For details of the e-Health Declaration Form (eHDF) for entry to Sarawak, as well as the latest SOPs in force in the State, go to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) website at https://sarawakdisastermc.com/.

For students commencing their first physical semester at the University, you are advised to contact our Airport Reception Service (ARS) at Airport Reception Service – Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia regarding your arrival arrangements.

For students who are staying in campus accommodations and not making arrangements with the ARS, you are required to contact Ms. Chin Li Yen at chin.li.yen@curtin.edu.my to inform her of your arrival date and time to ensure appropriate arrangements are made. A booking for arrival meeting is essential even if you are driving to Miri.

Should you require any clarification on returning to campus, please email returning2campus@curtin.edu.my

We look forward to welcoming you to the campus soon!

Warmest regards,

Professor Simon Leunig
Pro Vice-Chancellor, President & Chief Executive

A very Happy New Year to everyone!

We are very pleased to officially reopen our campus to students starting today, especially our Foundation 1F students who start their orientation tomorrow. It is very heart-warming seeing our campus come to life again with the presence of students, and we are of course looking forward to even bigger cohorts of new and returning degree students on campus soon.

With this reopening, there is no longer a need for staff, students, contractors and suppliers to get prior approval to enter the campus. However, everyone entering the campus are reminded to adhere to the following SOPs:

Scan the QR code and show vaccination certificate on MySejahtera at the main gate. This must be done each time you enter if you are entering more than once in a single day.
• Have temperature taken on entry.
Scan the QR code as you enter each building. QR codes are prominently displayed at all entrances.
• Practise safe distancing and observe room occupancy rules at all times.
Wear a face mask where necessary, especially in a public space and shared work spaces. Double-masking is recommended.
• Maintain high level of hygiene, such as washing or sanitising your hands and sanitising your work stations regularly.

Warmest regards,

Professor Simon Leunig
Pro Vice-Chancellor, President & Chief Executive
