Latest news on PTPTN

From now onwards. the Online PTPTN loan application will no longer be available. Therefore, from 2008 onwards, please get the PTPTN form from Loans and Scholarship Unit at Office of the Registrar and pay RM6 at the cashier.
Please refer this website for details: http://www.ptptn.gov.my/web/english/home

Saving is a must for new PTPTN application

Starting from 1st January 2008, parents of the students who wish to apply for PTPTN MUST have savings accounts in the National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN) and evidence of savings in the bank for their children to qualify for the National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN) loan.

Families with a monthly family income of more than RM2,000 need to have compulsory savings of RM3,000 monthly, while parents earning less than RM2,000 a month are required to save RM500 monthly. This part is not clear. They need to save RM3000 monthly, or need to maintain at least RM3000 balance in their account? Same goes for the RM2000 bracket.
