Learning Methods

Learning in the Business Services program is competency based using the Australian accredited BSB07 Business Services Training Package. The program is studied on-campus at Curtin Sarawak Campus in face-to-face classes timetabled over four semesters for international students, and five semesters for domestic students (MOHE units in short semester). Much of the learning is facilitated through simulations of business environments and scenarios/case studies.

Assessments and Assignments
Lecturers will outline the assessment requirements (i.e. Type of assessments, dates, or any special conditions) at the commencement of study for each unit of competency or group of units. This information is presented as an Training and Assessment Plan (TAP). Assessment consists mainly of knowledge tests, assignments related to scenarios and case studies, and direct observation of performance in a simulated business environment. Students with special needs such as medical conditions, disabilities and/or learning difficulties should discuss the possibility of alternative assessment methods with their lecturer.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process whereby skills and knowledge you already have can be assessed and recognised, irrespective of where and how you acquired them. If you are granted RPL for a particular unit of competency, you will not have to undertake learning and assessment in that unit, which may reduce the time required to complete the program. Normal enrolment fees are charged for all RPL. Programme lecturers can advise on how to apply for RPL.
