Master of Accounting
The Master of Accounting is a specialised advanced professional course which aim to provide graduates from disciplines other than accounting with knowledge and analytical skills in accounting and related financial management and legal aspects of business in order to equip them for professional accounting practice in Malaysia and Internationally. Apart from converting non-accounting graduates to accounting professionals, it also gives special focus to the international dimensions of accounting and business law. Students who complete the program will satisfy the university educational requirements of CPA Australia, with reciprocal recognition by selected overseas professional accounting bodies.
In terms of employment, there is a significant role for dual specialisation graduates who can work on the bridge between accounting and another discipline.
The Objectives of the course are to:
• Provide students from any non-accounting disciplines with a program for conversion to a professional accounting qualification.
• Provide students with a comprehensive understanding of, and competencies in accounting, auditing, taxation and financial management concepts, methods and practices, and thereby equip them for a professional accounting and financial management career.
• Enhance student's capabilities in conceptual thinking in interpersonal and communicating skills and in the use of analytical methods required for effective diagnosis of accounting and financial management theories, concepts and techniques.
Course Entry Requirements / Prerequisites
Applicants must have a Bachelor degree, excluding accounting majors, from a recognized tertiary education institution or an equivalent academic qualification.
Professional Recognition
The course is designed to meet the educational requirements for membership of CPA Australia.
Duration and Availability
This fee-paying course consists of twelve units and can be completed in eighteen months full-time or equivalent part-time.
Most units are available in the evening. International students studying in Malaysia on a student visa can only study in full-time mode.
