The research activities at the School of Engineering and Science are an essential component of academic excellence of the University. Not only does our research contribute to advancing knowledge or to providing innovative solutions to solving industrial challenges, by drawing in students into our research activities, we provide a learning culture that promotes and develops professionalism amongst our graduates. Despite being a relatively young School of Engineering and Science in Malaysia, we have an increasingly vibrant research culture and participate in research

in a wide range of areas. We have, for example, established a reputable track record in advancing the technologies in bio-energy, waste treatment and fermentation. Our staff publish extensively and hold research grants in areas such as wireless networks, engineered materials or geological studies.

With a growing research reputation worldwide, our five key research strengths are targeted towards addressing the diverse challenges faced within the region. Key issues such as sustainable resources, processes and products, waste management or rural connectivity are tackled together by teams of dedicated staff from different disciplines. Our collaborative approach is not limited to internal teams, but includes synergy with other external partners such as local universities and industries.

We continually seek initiatives to strengthen and expand the School's research partnerships. Whether you are from the industry or other higher institutions, working with us will allow you to access expertise or facilities which you may not have in-house. In particular, if you are from the industry, working with us will allow you to conduct generic research which you can apply to your business decisions.
