Our research is focused on the broad areas of energy and environmental biotechnology. Problems that are both theoretically
challenging and industrially important and relevant to the needs in Sarawak, Malaysia and neighboring regions are of our interests.
The Chemical Engineering Staff has built their research reputations in three main areas:
- Gas Synthesis and Processing
- Product & Process Engineering
- Transport Phenomena & Multiphase Systems

Innovative research projects that attract and secure funding from external sources have been initiated in each research cluster. A number of research programs may across different disciplines. Undergraduate students have been involved in the research activities through their final year projects on particular topics. Currently, one master and six PhD students are doing their research within the department. Their research is ranging from fundamental research to applied research.
Chemical Engineering staffs have secured a number of research grants from Shell Oil Company and Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) with a total amount of RM 1.6 millions. Also, the staffs have been successfully granted Curtin Sarawak Research Funds (CSRF) to initiate their research activities at Curtin. |
