Vision:
Department of Chemical Engineering aspires to be an internationally reputable facility for
chemical engineering education and
research that is considered to be indispensable by global
industries and highly respected in Asia-Pacific region.
Mission:
The department is dedicated to undertake teaching and research in chemical and process
engineering and to work with industry, government, the community and the profession to help
increase national wealth and professional wellbeing
Values:
The department values integrity, innovation and team work in pursuing its vision and mission
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
The program in Chemical Engineering is designed to enable graduates to:
-
- Have an appreciation of current and emerging knowledge of chemical and process engineering
through a strong grasp of the fundamentals and application of the discipline.
-
- Be competent in the tools and processes of their profession. They should develop critical
thinking and self-learning ability and group collaboration skills.
-
- Cultivate responsible and responsive links within the wider community emphasizing services,
practical relevance, social justice
-
and ethical behavior
-
- Be able to apply skills and knowledge to solve real industrial problems. They can effectively
communicate in various modes to widely differing audiences; and have the ability to work
within a team to contribute to its goals, and to take a leadership role if necessary.
-
- Understand the need for sustainable development and have the ability to search for innovative
applications of the discipline that meet industrial needs.
PROGRAM OUTCOMES
The program in Chemical Engineering is designed to enable students at the end of their course to
demonstrate their ability to achieve the following outcomes:
The graduates should be able to acquire and to use their fundamental knowledge
and skills of chemical engineering in practical ways
-
The graduates should be able to integrate different chemical engineering processes;
to design and report on chemical plant equipment;
-
and to use raw materials
to create a product.
-
The graduates should be able to broaden their horizons about chemical engineering and to use independent and self-oriented learning in identifying problems and finding solutions; to apply solutions in the context of organizations, groups, and teams in the work environment; and to make chemical processes happen.
-
The graduates should meet and apply international health, safety, and environmental
sustainability standards in their work environment
-
to ensure that their work practices are ethical,
legal, and respectful.
-
The graduates should be able to adopt life long learning skills and use their knowledge
and skills to further develop their intellectual
-
curiosity and research in chemical engineering
