FAQ

 

1. Q: How many contact hours (how many hours of classes) per course?

A: We offer trimester system, each trimester students are allow to take 2 units. Each units consist of 16 hrs of lecture and 20 hrs of tutorial.

All done during weekend. Normally Saturday 9am - 5pm; Sunday 9am - 5pm

 

2. Q: Are the classes streched out throughout the semester or crammed into 1 or 2 weeks of "seminars" style?

A: Classes will be held during weekends. Each unit consist of 4 weekends throughout the trimester. One full weekend (Sat/Sun)

seminar will be conducted by a Lecturer from Graduate School of business from Perth Australia, followed by several Sunday tutorials

by Curtin Sarawak Lecturer. Attendance at the full weekend seminar is compulsory.

 

3. Q: What is the make up of the assessments for each course?

  • all course work based?
  • final examination %?
  • what the split of course work - finals marks?
  • all course carry the same split?
  • how many individual assignments?
  • how many group assignments?

A: The Units assessment depend on the unit lecturer. Some might have coursework only and some might have a combination

of coursework and examination. All depend on the unit lecturer.

 

4. Q: What is the passing rate of MBA students?

A: All students have potential to obtain MBA degree. As far as I know nobody fail yet this program except the one who discontinue the program due to several factors. Some of them do it half the way maybe due to work commitment.

 

5. Q: Any Management Report or dissertation for the MBA?

  • if yes, how many words; 10,000, 20,000 words?
  • can students choose their topics or have to choose from a list of predetermined topics?

A: There is no Management Report or Dissertation in this program.

 

6. Q: What is the passing marks for each module? - is 60 % the passing mark?

A: 50% is a passing mark however the students are expected to maintain an average (give or take 1 or 2 units that they may

not do so well in) of 70 %. If students have 4 or more final unit marks under 60 %, they will not be able to complete the MBA (but may be awarded a Graduate Certificate in Business or a Graduate Diploma in Business, depending on how many units they have completed).

 

7. Q: What is the content of the "Malaysian Legal Environment" course? - is it a highly legal paper or more business in nature?

A: More on business nature and related law.

 

8. Q: My employment contract is just for 1-Year (may be renewed for another year). In case I study for 1-Year & couldn't

complete the 2nd year MBA curriculum, what are the options that I may have.

A: With the unit you have taken, you can apply an advance standing in the MBA program offered in other University or you can

continue doing your MBA with Curtin University Perth as online student.

 

9. Q: I don't have TOEFL/IELTS score. Do I need to have a valid score for subject application?

A: Applicants for the MBA who have not undertaken an undergraduate degree at an English-speaking university are required to

sit and pass an English test (TOEFL test score of at least 580; or IELTS test score of at least 7.0 overall with 6.5 minimum, on each skill).

10. Q: What are the acceptable terms of paying the course Fees (Module-based, Semester Based?)

A: The fees are depending on the number of unit taken for each trimester.

 

11. Q: Is there a full time option for the MBA course instead of a part time (weekend) course?

A: Curtin Sarawak only offer a part-time MBA programme.

 

12. Q: Are there any options of doing the MBA partially in Malaysia and partially in Curtin Australia?

A: You can do your MBA in Curtin Sarawak partially and can finish the rest of the unit in Curtin Australia (the tuition fee is subject to Curtin Australia). In Curtin Sarawak an MBA program is offer to part-time students only.

 

13. Q: Is there any MBA program with specialization offer in Curtin Sarawak?

A: No.
