Welcome to the Department of Mass Communication !

Mass Communication was originally set up in 2003, as part of the School of Business, and officially became a Department in 2006.

The Department of Mass Communication has been growing steadily over the years in terms of staff and students, building along

the way a good reputation as a provider of high quality education.

A short documentary film, entitled Nenek Inyak, made by students in the Bachelor of Arts (Mass Communication) programme was

officially selected as part of the Best Top Ten films in the “Documentary” category of the national Anugerah Filem Pendek 2006

(AFP Short Film Competition), organised by Filem Negara Malaysia and Radio Televisyen Malaysia. This short film subsequently

won the AFP 2006 Jury Special Award for Best Cinematography (Penyampaian Anugerah Khas Juri – Sinematographi Terbaik) at the

awards ceremony, held at Radio Televisyen Malaysia’s Auditorium Perdana in Angkasapuri, Kuala Lumpur in January 2007.

This is the first time that Curtin Sarawak students have been honored with a prestigious national award in Malaysia.
