Information for Students

 

Computer and Email Account

  • Student must fill in the Y1 form. Once processed, user will have login and email account.

  • Default Username will be your Student ID and Password will be your Date of Birth. (the same info you wrote in Y1 form)

  • User must change their password once login to the system.


Computer Lab


Email

  • Student should use Webmail for their email application.

  • Username is the StudentID and Password is the student’s date of birth with the format "ddmmyy".

  • Webmail Direct link is https://stud.curtin.edu.my:4097.


Server File Storage Quota

  • Student will be given a quota limit of 20 MB.

  • This Server Storage is referred to the Z:\ drive in your computer.


File Backups

  • User is advised to practice their own files backup for their files that located in their computer or servers.


Peer to peer filesharing programs

  • Installation or use of peer to peer filesharing programs such as Gnutella, Kazaa, BitTorrent, etc is not permitted.


Unlawful activity

  • Unlawful activity, eg infringement of copyright, defamation, hacking, denial of service, breaching of proxy services, bypassing of proxy services, hosting of unauthorized services etc are not permitted.


Printing

  • The campus is equipped with laser printers. The charges for printing is RM0.10 per page, (Size: A4 or below).

  • User can print to Color Printer which located at IT Helpdesk in GP401 Ground Floor. The charges is RM2.00 per page (Size: A4 or below).

  • Printing Account upload can be make at the IT Helpdesk counter. Minimum upload is RM5.00


On-Campus Internet Access

  • Internet Access is available in Computer Labs. The access is filtered, monitored and strictly for academic activities only.

  • Fill in Y2 form to apply to access the Internet in the Schools Building.


On-Campus Accommodation Internet Access


Student ID Renewal or Replacement

  • Renewal or replacement can be obtained from the Student Services Department.

Online Learning: WebCT/Blackboard

  • Any difficulties accessing WebCT or Blackboard, report to the local respective lecturer.


Personal IT Related Equipment

  • ICT Department or Personnel are not responsible or obliged to service, troubleshoot, configure, setup, install, fix, backup, safety etc any of the user’s personal IT equipment such as PC, Notebook or other IT related equipments.

  • The user is responsible to ensure that their equipments are compatible with the University’s facilities if the user requires to use it in the campus.


Other Facilities

  • Scanning: User can scan document at IT Helpdesk. The charges is RM0.50 per picture or page, (Size: A4 or below).

  • Projector or Notebook for In-Campus presentation: Booking request must be submitted through the lecturer in charge. The lecturer will book the equipment on behalf of the user.


Oasis

  • Link: http://oasis.curtin.edu.au

  • Use Perth Student ID number to login.

  • Any inquiries about Oasis liaise with Student Services or read the Oasis webpage for other support and details.

  • Lecturer in charge. The lecturer will book the equipment on behalf of the user.
