Information for Staff

 

Computer and Email Account

New staff is required to fill in the Y1 form before any account can be created. This form can be obtain from the HR personnel. Once processed (next working day), user will be given a system login and email account. This information can be collected from respective Administrative Assistant or HR personnel. Please remember your password and should you fail to logon after the 3rd attempt,

the system will automatically lock out. To unlock, please contact IT Helpdesk.


Desktop

User will be allocated a Personal Computer at the request and approval of respective School Directors, Manager or Head of Department. The computer will be ready within two working days after the new staff arrival and HR confirmation.


Emails Setup

The default email application is MS Outlook 2000. User can configure their email account. Please refer to ICT-FAQ for configuration reference.

ICT Inquiries or Service Request

Submit your inquiries or service request to the Online Helpdesk: http://helpdesk.curtin.edu.my.


ICT Telephone Inquiries

Our ICT Help Desk can assist you with any of your telephone inquiries. Call our Help Desk extension number 3988 or 3989.


Server File Storage Quota

User will be given a quota limit of 50 MB. User requires to send a Service Request for any of quota increase request.


Inventory List

User is required to fill in ICT Inventory list for all the ICT equipments which assigned to the user.

 

Peer to peer file sharing programs

Installation or use of peer to peer file sharing programs such as Gnutella, Kazaa, BitTorrent, etc is not permitted.


Unlawful activity

Unlawful activity, eg infringement of copyright, defamation, hacking, denial of service, breaching of proxy services, bypassing of proxy services, hosting of unauthorized services etc are not permitted.


Printing

The campus is equipped with black laser printers. Color printers are located in few areas in the campus and can be accessed

by authorized users only. For more info on the authorized users, please refer to your School Directors, Manager or Head of Department.


File Backups

User is advised to practice their own files backup for their files that located in their computer or servers.


On-Campus Internet Access

Internet Access is available in campus offices and computer labs. The access is monitored and strictly for academic and work related activities only.


Telephone Facility

Telephone is limited 1 unit per room. It is shared among room occupant. Further amendment to this is to be at the request and

approval of respective School Directors, Manager or Head of Department. All staff can make local call by dialing "9". Any outstation

and hand phone calls will require the operator assistant. The operator can be reach by dialing the usual "0". Details on Telephone
