English Language Bridging Programme
The English Language (EL) Bridging Programme is an advanced English programme. Completion of this programme will allow students to fulfil the English entry requirements for undergraduate and postgraduate study at Curtin Sarawak. There are two intakes a year in February and July. The duration of the programme is one semester.
The primary objectives of the course are to provide students with the necessary language skills, study skills and links to mainstream. Students enrolling for the EL Bridging Programme will take up advanced units such as Academic Writing, English Communication, Tertiary Study Skills and English for Specific Purposes.
All the units except for English for Specific Purposes will have a combination of continuous assessment and examination. 65% of the marks are awarded to continuous assessment and 35% to the final examinations. In order to successfully complete the course, and to continue with undergraduate studies at Curtin, students must receive a pass in all units. A Certificate of Completion is awarded to all students who successfully complete the programme.
Students registering for this programme need to satisfy minimum English requirements which are, either a band 'D' in Curtin University Test of English (CUTE) or an overall score of '5' in IELTS.
The course offered is identical to Curtin Perth's. Classes are small to cater for the individual needs of students. Students completing this programme will be well prepared to undertake academic challenges that they will come up against in their undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
