Privacy Act

As an Australian University, Curtin complies with the provisions of the Federal Privacy Act 1988 and the Information Privacy Principles

issued pursuant to this Act. Information in Privacy Principles No 11 makes it illegal to provide a third party (this includes a parent or

guardian) with personal details of a student.

A student's written consent is needed before releasing information on his educational records to person (s) outside the University,

except as provided for by law and for directory information such as name, address, dates of attendance and degrees earned. Of course, different provisions apply to students under 18. This policy is applied to all Curtin students for both the Bentley and Miri Campuses.
