Guidelines for Foundation Programme Board of Examiner

 

Procedures to be applied to award a supplementary assessment or conceded pass

 

The following procedures shall apply to all foundation students

 

The Foundation Studies Board of Examiners will consider a student’s eligibility for a supplementary assessment and conceded pass using the following procedures:

 

  1. 1. Supplementary assessments may be offered to students who achieve a grade of 45% or above in two failed units with 50 % semester     weighted average (SWA).

 

  1. 2. Supplementary assessments may not be awarded to any student who has failed more than two units.
  1. 3. Supplementary assessment refers to the following according to page 29 Curtin 2008 Assessment Manual:

    Supplementary Assessment (an “X” interim result) is the formal approval by a Board of Examiners for a student to undertake an additional     assessment task in order to provide an opportunity for the student to pass the unit.
    The additional assessment task could be an examination or assignment or other work.

     *This would not apply to Engineering Maths (I) and (II) and Physics (I) and (II).
