Withdrawals and Additions
The student is responsible to ensure that his or her enrolment is correct. Withdrawal from units, altering courses or majors will have consequences on fees and/or academic records if not lodged before the final dates for amendments. To amend your enrolment, you need to fill in the Amendment Form. It is important that students seek academic counselling where appropriate.
Students who wish to enrol for more than 100 credits in a semester will require prior approval from their Head of Department or Course Coordinator. Enrolling in more than 100 credits per semester is generally not encouraged.
Withdrawal from Unit i) Special Semesters Withdrawal dates (without liability) from units that are different from the standard semester structure (e.g. summer school, trimester units, research periods etc) are based on:
ii) Special Late Withdrawals (SLW) A special late withdrawal will only be accepted under special circumstances which are beyond the control of the student and which has seriously disrupted the students' study program. Failure to complete study requirements will not be considered as sufficient grounds for late withdrawal. The Special Late Withdrawal period applies between: Semester One - 1 May to the Friday before the commencement of the Semester 1 examination period Semester Two - 1 October to the Friday before the commencement of the Semester 2 examination period
If a student successfully applies for a Special Late Withdrawal a grade of WD (withdrawn) will appear on the student semester's Statement of Results and the student will be charged accordingly for the unit.
Total Withdrawal from a Course If a student wishes to withdraw from Curtin, it is advisable to seek counselling from the Director of School, Head of Department, Course Coordinator, or the Academic Registrar before lodging a Withdrawal Form at the Office of the Registrar. Students MUST lodge a Withdrawal Form to officially withdraw from a course. In accordance to Malaysian Immigration Act 1963 13(4)(b), international students are required to cancel Student Pass visa prior to leaving the University.
