About Curtin University of Technology Sarawak Malaysia

Named after former Australian Prime Minister John Curtin, Curtin University of Technology (whose main campus is located in Perth Western Australia) was invited in 1998 by the Sarawak Government to establish a full university campus in Miri, the main city in the northern part of Sarawak. With the aim of fulfilling the university¡¯s commitment to be a true international university, Curtin accepted the invitation.

Phase one of the Sarawak campus was completed at the beginning of 2002, with a comprehensive range of excellently equipped laboratories and other facilities, providing an ideal educational environment for students, not only from Sarawak and other parts of Malaysia, but also for those from further afield, including Australia, Indonesia, Brunei, China and other countries in the region. In 2009, the Sarawak campus celebrated its 10-year anniversary as well as the completion of Phase two of its development.

Courses offered at the Sarawak campus range from Intensive English language courses, Foundation & Continuing Studies programmes through to degrees in Arts, Business Administration, Commerce, Science and Engineering, as well as postgraduate degrees by coursework and research. The Sarawak campus staff comprises highly qualified academics coming not just from Malaysia, but also from many other countries.
