Pre-Arrival Information

Entry Requirements:
Visitors to Malaysia must be in possession of a valid passport or travel document with a minimum validity of six months beyond the intended visiting period. Please be advised that the Sarawak Immigration Department issues its own visit passes upon entry into its territory. For additional information regarding visa requirements, please contact your local Malaysian diplomatic mission or Tourism offices.

Arrival in Kuching:
On arrival in Kuching, you will need to complete a Malaysian Immigration Arrival Card (tick the "Education" box) and to clear Sarawak Immigration.
IMPORTANT: One part of the Immigration Arrival Card remains in your passport. Be careful not to lose it, as you will be requested to present it when leaving the country.

Arrival in Kuala Lumpur:
Should you fly to Miri through Kuala Lumpur, your plane will land in KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport http://www.klia.com.my).

• If you disembark from the plane via any of the "C" gates, then you are in the International terminal and you will need to catch the shuttle "Aero Train" to the main terminal (Domestic) building. When you descend the shuttle you'll be on level 4 of the Terminal building. Walk towards the front of the shuttle and turn left at the first possibility. Go down the escalators and, when you get to the next level (level 3), turn towards the Immigration desk. Present your papers and follow the signs to the gate of your domestic flight.
• If you disembark from the plane via one of the "A" or "B" gates, then you are already in the main (Domestic) terminal, so proceed directly to Immigration. Present your papers and follow the signs to the gate of your domestic flight.

On arrival in Kuala Lumpur, you will need to complete the Malaysian Immigration Arrival Card (tick the "Education" box) and to clear Malaysian Immigration.

The State of Sarawak has its own immigration laws. Therefore, you will be required to clear immigration not only in Kuala Lumpur, but also in Sarawak (either in Kuching, the capital of Sarawak, or in Miri).
TIP: The Immigration Arrival Cards required to enter Sarawak are the same as those required to enter Malaysia. You can request two such forms on your international flight and fill them in together. This will avoid you long waiting at Kuching, respectively Miri Airport.

MIRI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Miri's international airport is located at 20 minutes from the centre of town and has daily flights to Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching as well as all of Sarawak's major towns.
Taxi vouchers are available at the Miri airport in the main concourse, outside the arrival hall. Typical rates between airport and hotel are between RM30-40.
