Faculty Graduate Studies Committee, Curtin Sarawak

The FGSC considers policy about, and co-ordination and promotion of Master's by Research and Doctoral studies at the Sarawak Campus of Curtin University of Technology. A large part of its work is to do with the review, approval and monitoring of postgraduate student progress. Its work also includes determining scholarship rankings and extensions, when requested.

Faculty Graduate Studies Committee - Terms of Reference

1. To advise the Curtin Sarawak Academic Board on policy matters regarding Master's by Research and Doctoral studies, including the coordination and promotion of Master by Research and Doctoral studies at Curtin Sarawak.

   
   

2. For Masters by Research and Doctoral degrees, to consider and approve the following:

   • - admission, advanced standing and enrolment;
   • - extension of time to submit candidacy;
   • - candidacy;
   • - leave of absence;
   • - the composition of thesis committees/thesis;
   • - titles;
   • - the composition of examining panels/thesis titles;
   • - nomination of an adjudicator.

3. To work in cooperation with Schools and Centres in the review of annual progress reports and make recommendations on 'conditional' status. To recommend terminations to University Graduate Studies Committee.

5. To consider, endorse and recommend to University Graduate Studies Committee the following:

   • thesis examination reports.

6. To consider such other matters which are consistent with the development of graduate programs including scholarship ranking and scholarship extensions.
