Title of Scheme

  • Best Research Paper Awards

 

Aim

The aim of the Best Research Paper Awards is to facilitate attaining the university R&D strategic plan objectives of Building Research Capability and Building Reputation for Quality Research.

Frequency and number of awards

  • The Best Research Paper Award is an annual award. There is one award in each School at Curtin Sarawak, Malaysia.

    • - Best Research Paper Award in School of Business
    • - Best Research Paper Award in School of Engineering and Science, and
    • - Best Research Paper Award in School of Pre-University

     

    Amount

    • RM 2,500 each award

    Procedure of awards decision

    • Awards Committee/s to be constituted by the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Curtin Sarawak
    • Submission of research output in the prescribed format with all required evidences
    • Presentation before the Awards Committee or a forum as required

    Terms and conditions for the awards

    • - Applicants should be full-time confirmed academic staff of Curtin Sarawak, Malaysia.

    • - Awardees should be an employee of Curtin Sarawak, Malaysia, at the time of award.

    • - For the year 2008 award, an applicant can submit only one research paper for consideration of award. The paper should have been    published in 2008. The applicant should be one of the authors or the sole author of the paper.

    • - Applicants can make only one application and they should apply only for the award in the School to which they belong.

    • - An applicant can be a coauthor in more than one paper, which may be submitted by other persons in the same School or in some other    School/s.

    • - The research paper should have been submitted for RPI points claim in the RPI 2008 Round.

    • - Only refereed journal papers and refereed conference papers can be submitted. Keynote addresses to conferences of international or    national significance where all other papers for the conference are refereed, and evidence is provided both of the keynote status of the    address and of the other contributions to the conference being refereed can also be submitted.     • - The awards will be decided by the Best Research Paper Awards Committee/s constituted by the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Curtin Sarawak,    Malaysia. The decision of the Awards Committee/s is final.

    • - The Committee/s may decide not to recommend one or more awards if no award quality papers are received.

    • - Applicants should submit additional information or documentation as required by the Awards Committee/s.

    • - The award money will be distributed only to the academic staff of Curtin Sarawak, Malaysia, in the following proportion.

    •  
      • - If the first author of the paper is not an academic staff of Curtin Sarawak, Malaysia, the award money will be distributed equally among the eligible authors.
        - The academic staff of Curtin Sarawak, Malaysia, who is the first author of the paper, would be awarded 20% more money and other eligible authors would be awarded equally.

    • - The award money will be placed in a cost centre at Curtin Sarawak, Malaysia, which the awardees can use only for academic purposes    with due approval from the R&D Department.

    • - Applicants are responsible for complying with all instructions and for submitting 5 copies of all submissions including the research paper    and other supporting evidences.

    • - Applications should be submitted in a sealed envelope containing 5 copies of the research paper and other supporting evidences.

    • - The envelope should be superscribed with the name of the applicant, designation, name of the school and applicant’s signature. No    details of the research paper submitted should be written on the envelope.

    • - Applications should be submitted to the R&D Office, Curtin Sarawak, Malaysia, before the deadline. Late submissions  will not be accepted.

    Deadline for submission

  • Applications should be submitted to Jenny Teoh, R&D Office, before 5 p.m. on Monday, 25 August 2008.
    • - Submit 5 copies of the research paper and other supporting evidences in a sealed envelope.
    • - Superscribe the envelope with the name of the applicant, designation, name of the school and applicant’s signature. Do not write the    details of the research paper on the envelope.

    • - Submit a copy of the first page of the application separately for office record.
