Ethics Committee Operational Procedure

 

Committee meetings and minutes

  • 2 to 3 meetings in a year. Additional meetings as required

  • Draft minutes of the meetings to be circulated and e-confirmed soon after the meeting

  •  

Processing of applications

  • All research proposals (internally/externally funded, non-funded, HDR) need ethics approval.

  • Applications should be submitted to the R&D office.

  • Each application will be processed by circulation among at least one Ethics Committee members and one member from the Registry of Reviewers for review of ethics approval.

  • Reviewers will look into the overall and methodological ethics aspects.

  • Upon approval, R&D office will prepare the approval letter. Approval letter should be signed by the reviewers and Chair, Ethics Committee.

  • Approval letter will be sent to the applicant directly in the case of funded and HDR research projects and to the Director of School in the case of non-funded research projects.

  • Approved applications will be ratified in the subsequent Ethics Committee meeting.

 

Criteria for undergraduate research projects

Undergraduate student projects involving human should be at very minimal risk and of very limited scale with very few human participants and only use a single method of data collection. Supervisors should make the students aware of their ethical obligations.
