Academic Guidance at The Learning Centre

The Learning Centre focuses on the following aspects:
• Providing academic support for all Curtin Sarawak students.
• Providing English Language programmes.
• Providing academic staff support and professional development in Teaching and Learning.
• Providing English for Specific Purpose modules for professional staff at Curtin Sarawak and the outside community.
• Providing knowledge building and service to the community in the areas of English, Mathematics, Science and Learning through the   OUTReach programme.

Academic Guidance

Expert lecturers conduct free seminars and workshop modules in a relaxed, supportive environment. The modules are aimed at developing students' academic skills while they continue studying in their enrolled programmes. They are scheduled at various times throughout the year, some more frequently than others, according to students' needs. In addition, they are provided free of charge for current Curtin Sarawak students.

The modules are grouped into various areas - English Language skills, Mathematics and Science skills and Study Skills. Some of the modules provided in each of the areas are listed below.

The Learning Centre is not entirely for students who are academically challenged, but also for students who have special talents academically and excel in their studies. High achievers are motivated in a number of ways, encouraging them to participate in special programmes and competitions outside the university.
