LEVELS OF HEALTH EMERGENCY
| Category 0 | Example : Person passes a medical examination | Assessed medically fit and healthy |
| Category 1 | Example: Person fails a medical examination | Assessed medically unfit and/ or unhealthy |
| Category 2 | Examples: Minor injuries – cut, blister, graze, burn, sprain, Sting , etc |
Person only needing first aid attention at the Health Services and First Aid Center – on campus Attending person include : campus Health Officer, Security ERT Personnel with First Aid Certificate, MRC VAD 57 member with First Aid Certificate, Curtin staff/ student with First Aid Certificate |
| Category 3 | Examples : injuries or conditions requiring medical treatment – deep cut, burn, broken bones, fever, illness, urticaria, anaphylactic, reaction, etc | Person needing medical attention – patient to go to a doctor’s clinic, hospital outpatients clinic, government desa clinic, medical center To travel there by own of friends transport. If transport is unavailable, a taxi will need to be called. |
| Category 4 | Examples: major injuries and medical conditions including high fever – in an emergency situation when patient is unable to find someone to take them for medical treatment, ie. Student is from Curtin accommodation. | Person needing medical attention – patient to be taken to a doctor’s clinic, hospital outpatient’s clinic, government desa clinic, medical center – by Security ERT in Curtin University Sarawak van/ car. If Security ERT is unavailable, a taxi will need to be called. |
| Category 5 | Examples: Patient in need of CPR, major injury such as a neck injury and cannot be moved, in shock such as from burns covering half the body or amputation of a limb, in an unconscious state, in a coma, etc | Medical Emergency - Security ERT to be informed. Ambulance to be called to attend to patient on-campus, Then transferred to Miri General Hospital or to Columbia Asia Hospital or Miri City Medical Center. |
